Gastrinomas occur as single tumors or several tumors. Most patients are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50 with a higher incidence in men as compared. The gastrin leads to increased production of the acid and there is a high level of HCL which leads to multiple ulcers in the stomach and small bowel. It is characterized by a triad of severe peptic ulceration hypersecretion of gastric acid and a non-beta islet tumor of the pancreas that is gastrinoma. Zollinger-Ellison syndrome is a condition in which one or more tumors form in the pancreas or duodenum which is the upper part of the small intestine. A gastrinoma is a gastrin-producing tumor usually located in the pancreas or the duodenal wall.
