Stage 1 Melanoma On Nose. At stage 1 the melanoma is only present in the top layer of skin the epidermis. Most often no other treatment is needed. Melanoma is less than 1 mm thick outer layer of skin epidermis covering the tumour may or may not look broken under the microscope ulcerated or not. The cancer is up to 2 millimeters mm thick.
To remove the melanoma wide excision surgery is usually performed. Although it is rarer than other types of skin cancer the American Cancer Society reports that melanoma causes most skin cancer to die. What is stage 1A melanoma. Melanoma is the most malignant form of skin cancer of the nose. Beyond the initial 0 stage where it is completely trapped in the surface of the skin and has yet to spread in situ stage 1 melanoma is considered a localized tumor. Stage I melanoma is typically treated by wide excision surgery to remove the melanoma as well as a margin of normal skin around it.
Most often no other treatment is needed.
The SEER database however does not group cancers by AJCC TNM stages stage 1 stage 2 stage 3 etc. Instead it groups cancers into localized regional and distant stages. Beyond the initial 0 stage where it is completely trapped in the surface of the skin and has yet to spread in situ stage 1 melanoma is considered a localized tumor. The removal of nearby lymph nodes may also be considered if the melanoma is between 1-4mm thick andor shows signs of rapid growth. For stage 0 and stage 1 surgery is the main treatment.
